Immaculate Lime Pointing
There are two main types of lime pointing work we carry out in properties around Edinburgh. First of all, where cement mortar has been used, we can carefully remove this and replace it with more traditional lime pointing. The problem with cement is that it doesn't allow moisture within walls to escape, therefore trapping it inside. When cold weather hits, water is trapped inside the structure and when it expands to ice it can lead to damage.
Let Your Masonry Breathe
The second type of lime pointing work we do is to replace existing lime pointing. Over the years yours may have become damaged by the elements or just need re-done because of a lack of maintenance over a long period of time.
Lime pointing allows your masonry to breathe by allowing moisture to enter and leave the structure so it's not trapped inside with nowhere to go.
