Riselaw Road

Before

The client’s property had original Victorian slate roofs on the front and rear pitches, with deteriorating gutters and no roof ventilation. They wanted a full refurbishment, including a flat roof replacement and improvements to energy efficiency, as the flat roof had no insulation and a worn polycarbonate roof light. Our refurbishment would supply them with long-term durability and compliance with modern warranty standards.

After

We replaced both front and rear pitched roofs with 100-year warranted Spanish slate, following CUPRA supplier specifications. The existing guttering was refurbished, lead overflashings on the mortar skews replaced, and a new roof hatch installed to comply with warranty requirements.

A 140mm FATRA insulated flat roof system with a thermal performance of 0.022 W/mK was installed, along with a new Cornish roof lantern with a U-value of 1.0 W/m². Roof vents were added to the pitched roofs to improve ventilation.

All installations were carried out following technical specifications from our supplier representatives, who conducted on-site inspections both before and after installation. This ensures the flat roof carries its 20-year warranty, respectively, giving the client long-term peace of mind and improved energy efficiency.

Woodhall Avenue

Before

The client’s single-story extension was suffering from water ingress due to failed pebble dash render. Incorrectly sized copestones with no overhang and insulation fitted to the flat roof with the wrong fixings allowed moisture to penetrate the walls and roof membrane. The original roof system had not followed a verified specification, leading to leaks and poor long-term performance.

After

We recommended replacing the entire flat roof system in line with a FATRA-approved specification (J42). A FATRA technical representative visited the site to advise on the correct installation process, ensuring compliance with warranty standards and technical guidance. We provided a revised quote for this work and the customer was happy to proceed.

The new roof was installed to correct the previous water ingress issues without needing to replace the copestones. With correct installation, the membrane was taken to the copestones. Additionally, the pebble dash render was repaired, creating a fully watertight and durable finish.

The client now benefits from a flat roof built to specification, with proper insulation fixings and FATRA oversight, giving long-term protection, improved energy efficiency, and peace of mind backed by supplier warranty.

Windsor Gardens

Before

The client approached us while we were working on a nearby roof. Their flat roof was aging, with worn insulation and outdated glass rooflights that were contributing to heat loss and reduced energy efficiency. They wanted a cost-effective solution to improve both the performance and durability of the roof.

After

After inspecting the property, we recommended a full replacement of the flat roof, including upgrading the insulation to modern standards for improved thermal efficiency. The old glass rooflights were replaced with two cost-effective triple-glazed polycarbonate rooflights, providing better insulation and natural light while reducing heat loss.

The new flat roof was installed to specification, creating a fully watertight, energy-efficient solution. The combination of upgraded insulation and rooflights has improved both comfort and performance, giving the client a durable, low-maintenance roof and peace of mind for years to come.

Raeburn Mews

Before

During a period of severe storms, we were called to a property in Raeburn Mews to investigate an internal roof leak that was causing water ingress. Our team attended promptly and carried out emergency works to stop the leak and make the property watertight. Following this, the client asked us to provide a quotation for a full roof replacement as part of an insurance claim.

After

We provided a detailed quotation for the required works, which was subsequently approved by the client’s insurance provider. The roof was replaced with a 140mm FATRA flat roof system, installed in line with the supplier’s technical specification. On completion, a FATRA technical representative carried out an inspection and issued a 20-year warranty, ensuring the installation met all required standards.

As part of the project, the copestones were also replaced, and any damaged slates on the surrounding roof areas were repaired. The property now benefits from a fully watertight, durable roof system, giving the client long-term protection and peace of mind following the storm damage.

Hartington Gardens

Before

The client contacted us to replace the existing 4½ inch cast iron guttering with a larger 5 inch deep-flow cast iron system. A recently installed dormer had increased the volume of rainwater flowing into the gutter, putting additional strain on the original system which was no longer able to cope during heavy rainfall. As a result, water was overflowing and there were signs of leaks affecting both the dormer roof and sections of the main roof.

After

We installed a new 5 inch deep-flow cast iron guttering system along with a new drip tray, allowing the roof to properly manage the increased rainfall from the dormer addition. During the works, we carried out a more detailed inspection and identified issues with both the dormer roof and the flat roof covering.

We recommended installing a FATRA membrane system to ensure a durable and watertight solution. The client accepted this recommendation, and we completed the flat roof works along with repairs to the dormer roof. The property now benefits from a gutter system capable of handling the increased water flow, along with reliable roofing repairs that have eliminated the previous leaks and improved the overall performance of the roof.
